Prescription for Good Health
Charitable Giving as a Routine Practice
Rick Tague, M.D., is the owner and medical director of two medical practices, Optimum Health Family Practice in Topeka and the Center for Nutrition and Preventive Medicine with clinics in Topeka and Leawood, Kansas. Dr. Tague has been in medical practice since 1987 and believes charitable giving should be a regular habit for all of us.
One of the ways Dr. Tague has been able to help his community is by offering a financial assistance program for patients at his medical offices. Through that program those with special financial needs routinely qualify for financial discounts. Those with greater needs qualify for steeper discounts. In 2015 his office provided more than $43,000 in free and discounted services, including office visits discounted up to 90% for those with the greatest needs. Over the past 30 years of providing medical care, this has amounted to hundreds of thousands of dollars in free and discounted services.
The Center for Nutrition also periodically supports food programs at rescue missions in Topeka and Kansas City by donating food and recently contributed over 1,000 servings of food. Dr. Tague’s clinics also support service organizations that serve the needy.
What a great reminder that we don’t have to look far to see needs that we can help with. Keep your eyes and heart open and worthy opportunities will appear!
