Child Care Center Director
SENT is looking for an individual who has a heart to work for a non-profit organization and desires to help develop and enhance the Hi-Crest community.
A day in the life as a Child Care Center Director:
The Child Care Center Director is responsible for encouraging the vision that the center will be an exemplary program model of high-quality early childhood practices. The Director will oversee all operations of the SENT Prep Academy, with the primary areas of focus being staff/volunteer development, maintaining compliance for licensing and grant regulations, and creating a positive atmosphere where children and families can thrive.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Early Childhood, Child Development, Elementary Education, or a four-year degree in a related area of study with a minimum of 12 semester hours in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
- Appropriate teaching experience in licensed childcare center or preschool required, along with an associate degree in related areas, or the minimum qualifications by KDHE licensing will be considered in lieu of a B.A.
- Ability to obtain Program Director Approval through KDHE.
- Ability to make effective decisions that produce positive results.
- Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written communication.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to organize work and projects to ensure timely completion.
- People skills: collaborative spirit, compassionate, and team player.
- Valid Kansas driver’s license.
- Resident or willing to move to Topeka, KS, preferred.
- Knowledgeable of and willingness to support the mission, vision, values, and strategies of SENT.
- Ability to set professional and ethical boundaries with coworkers, families, and others.
- Demonstrated ability in working with children, families, volunteers, and community leaders.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated excellent teamwork skills and working together to achieve successful outcomes.
- Demonstrated emotional maturity and stability and the ability to handle crisis situations.
- Demonstrated independent work skills to guide effective decision-making and positive results.
- Must clear a KDHE KBI/SRS background check.

Child Care Center Assistant Teacher

A day in the life as a Child Care Center Assistant Teacher:
The Childcare Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting the lead teacher with facilitating the day’s curriculum and monitoring the children. This supports SENT’s mission by ensuring collaborative and healthy relationships both internally and externally.
Essential Functions:
- Assist the Lead Teacher in classroom management, including but not limited to: Time management/classroom schedule with a balance of quiet and active activities, outdoor play, & meal times.
- Diapering/toileting
- Monitor and connect with the children
- Support learning through play and exploration
- Deliver positive guidance for behaviors and anticipate/diffuse disruptive behaviors
- Observe children and communicate effectively regarding the child’s social, emotional, educational, and developmental growth
- Maintain a clean, safe and orderly environment
- Stay in continual compliance with KDHE Child Care licensing regulations
- Work collaboratively with staff to maintain a team environment to accomplish the tasks necessary to serve and support the center
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Appropriate teaching experience in licensed childcare center or preschool required
- Must clear a required by KDHE KBI/DCF background check
- Ability to make effective decisions that produce positive results
- Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written communication
- Solid understanding of child development, developmentally appropriate practices, and Kansas Child Care licensing regulations
- Attention to detail
- Ability to organize work and projects to ensure timely completion
- Valid Kansas driver’s license
- Resident or willing to move to Topeka, KS, preferred

Child Care Center Lead Teacher

A day in the life as a Child Care Center Lead Teacher:
The Childcare Lead Teacher is responsible for the planning and implementation of classroom activities that support customized development plans for each child. This supports SENT’s mission by ensuring collaborative and healthy relationships both internally and externally, and being intentional with walking beside families in their educational journey through loving relationships and strategic development.
Essential Functions:
- Design and follow a consistent schedule that balances quiet and active activities including outdoor play, lunch, snacks, and occasional field trips
- Create effective and safe learning centers that fosters learning through play and exploration
- Design programs that facilitate learning in the various developmental areas: cognitive, language, physical, social, and emotional
- Deliver positive guidance for behaviors and anticipate/diffuse disruptive behaviors
- Develop and administer individual learning plans for each child involving the parents via parent-teacher conferences at least twice annually with written progress reports
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment
- Stay in continual compliance with KDHE Child Care Licensing regulations
- Work collaboratively with staff to maintain a team environment to accomplish the tasks necessary to serve and to support the center
Qualifications:
- High-school diploma or GED equivalent
- Must be 18 years old
- 5 sessions of 2.5 hours of observation in any licensed facility with children of the same age at different times of day (use form CCL 207) AND 10 hours of KDHE-approved in-service OR 3 semester hours of college credit in early childhood AND Supervised observation in high school or college or any 3 months’ work experience with children of the same age OR 6 months’ teaching experience in any licensed facility with children of the same age
- Must clear a KDHE KBI/DCF background check
